IAPT

If you are finding it difficult to cope with feelings of anxiety or depression, there are services available to you in Westminster that offer quick and easy access to help and support.

Talking about your problems really can help. The Westminster IAPT services (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies) can give you the time to talk. They can also help you learn ways to help yourself so that you feel more able to cope with your problems.

They provide talking therapy and self-help courses for people with common mental health difficulties such as stress, worry and low mood. They offer a number of different workshops. These programs are designed around tried and tested techniques. They are based upon Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. This is a structured therapy based in the here and now which provides you with useful techniques to identify thoughts, feelings and emotions and respond to
them in different ways.

Whilst sessions are conducted in English, there is some support and resources available in Arabic and other key languages spoken in Westminster.

They can also offer an assessment and treatment with an interpreter.

They also offer assessment and treatment over the telephone for people who are unable to attend an appointment in person.

The service is available to adults (over 18) who live in
Westminster or who are registered with a Westminster GP.

It is a free, confidential NHS service.
